Sony PS-LX20 turntable won't operating

Hi i have been given Sony direct drive PS-LX20 turntable .
I have it connected to my amp, I can hear motors running but it wont turn ,lift or operate the arm.
The stylus appears to be working ok.
I cannot remove the turntable to access in below to see whats happening.
Can anyone help please.
