Sony cdp-S41 compact disc player after replacing belt no work the cd drive

I had to remove the disc table to replace a worn belt.
After the reassembly eject or play functions not responding.
Removed the table again and on power up observed the table drive belt running clockwise then counterclockwise continuously.
Checked leaf switches' contracts and spring tensions ok.
Just wondering if some timing setting could be the problem I dont know either if there may be a sequencing order. I looked for a repair manual for this model no avail which would most certainly be a huge help.
