My Sony Bravia kdl-40z4100 intermittently has a problem when power is applied. I have it on a switched outlet because it's outside on a covered porch, well protected but not in conditioned space. *Sometimes* when switched on, it briefly powers up but then immediately quits, before the screen has a chance to turn on. We can here a "click", like its trying, but then nothing.
I was about to give up on it when since it is pretty old, but I tried again the next day and it worked fine. Today, it's failing again.
When it was on, I made sure that things like "power saver" and "auto-off" were turned off. I thought perhaps one of those functions was malfunctioning. It seems to be something in the power supply, since ALL power is off. Perhaps related to the "instant -on" circuitry.
So now I'm wondering if it caused by warm weather? (Its not that warm) Is there is a simple fix or workaround? Like maybe just short the "instant on" so the TV is always on when plugged in?
Hi there ,
It is could be a power supply issue easily because in my understanding this TV is always plugged in so the main power is applied 24/7.
If you are lucky it is only dry capacitor problem.
It is just a possibility ,I can't be sure of course but might be worth to try
