"1) There is something wrong with some of the security chip/bios stuff. Press F8 and bootup in safe mode. If it works then something can be fixed.
2) On bios, turn off all the security stuff like lenovo security chip, intel security software, fingerprint (if you have one). reboot and see if it works
3) Your Vista is bad.... from the recovery disc, some drivers doesn't work (with the security hardware), or boot sector etc. My simplest solution which I normally do is to download the digital legal version of W7, create a second partition in the HDD/SDD and install a fresh alternate W7. During bootup, select the 2nd W7 operating system and see what's the problem.
4) If you are using a SSD, maybe you should download the lenovo SSD firmware upgrade checker to see if it will upgrade the firmware to match the bios. Also download the latest Bios. I once had a SSD which can be installed with XP, but it just won't boot and researching it shows that this brand of SSD (at that time) won't work as a OS disk. I had an X301 which ended up exactly like yours, so if it is a Intel X-18 or X-25 (or the later Intel 510), check the part number and google to see if it was one of the batch that had problem"
