I have had the amp for 20 years it works perfectly however I want to add a jack to use the speakers with an small external valve amp head. Is it simply a case of cutting the speaker wire and adding a new jack. Allowing me to disconnect the amp and connecting the valve amp head when needed. As long as I ensure I match the ohms.

If you want to connect to the input, if I understand it well, you need shielded cable and impedance matching. I think.
