Hello!
Protection mode is on when supply voltage come out from amplifier (output transistor or IC) and prevent to not to burn your speaker.
Measure these components, not have button combination to eliminate this protect mode.

Unplug the power cord,wait a minute.
Check the speaker and speaker cables.(Short circuit or open )
Switch on,if it is still protection mode, the power supply or output amplifier faulty.
