I've got a Weller WES51 that died on me. It was working perfectly and the LED just went out and the iron went cold! I briefly looked at the circuit board but nothing was obviously bad. Have you encountered a failure like this before?

Check the thermal sensor in the solderin iron. (20 ohms at 20 Celsius degrees) the resistance of the heating element (10 ohms circa) and the continuity of the power cord. Sometimes it breaks, a common error. The electronics in the station rarely fail, but if they do, it can be fixed by replacing the triac and the SL443 driver. First, limit the error. Also check the front fuse.
