First you should find out if the power supply or the preamplifier is at fault.
Disconnect the power supply connector from the preamplifier and measure the voltages of the power supply.
There should be +37 and -37 Volts, as well as +12 Volts.
GND are at two points, and the mute. Unfortunately I can't attach a picture here, but I can help verbally.
You can find the drawing of the MPS 1 on the net, it is similar to the MPS 2.
