Weller WSD 50 and TCP-S can work together?

Bonjour,

Hi Zim!

The WSD-50 station is for use with electronically controlled soldering irons, you can't connect the old Curie punst TCP-S soldering iron directly to it.
However, the transformer of the station is 24V, so the TCP-S soldering iron can be operated from it.

Merci d'avance.

Hello Zim!

I may have worded it wrong. The TCP-S soldering iron operates on 24V AC power supply, 2 of the 3 wires are 24V AC, the third is the grounding of the soldering iron body. The TCP-S soldering iron cannot be connected directly to the front panel connector of the WSD-50.
See the TCP-S soldering iron pinout:

The transformer of the WSD-50 station is 24V, so you can operate the soldering iron from this, connecting the TCP-S soldering iron to the secondary 24V coil. The WSD-51 control electronics will not be active in this case. So, remove the cover of the station, thread the TCP-Ssoldering iron wire through the rear plastic grid, and solder it to the secondary coil of the transformer, and connect the ground wire if necessary.
In case of hard ground, connect it smoothly to the internal ground, if it is only necessary for ESD reasons, then through a series 1Mohm resistor.
