My Akai UC-F5 cassette deck just recently stops while in play mode. New belt was installed only 5 months ago. Cassette has be performing very good since new belt was installed. There were no problems with recording and playing high quality C-90 and C-60 tapes. Sound is very good to excellent when tape is playing. Tried rewinding tape both ways before playing but the cassette still malfunctions. Would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks!

I am currently repairing a UC-F5 tape recorder. Was the idler also replaced when your tape recorder was repaired? And was the rotation sensor belt replaced?
When your tape is playing, does the rewind spool rotate smoothly? Without a cassette, can you hold the reel very easily or not so easily? When you start playback, can you hear a little buzzing sound (caused by the brake working)?
