B&O beogram 2400 turntable non-powering, any suggestions?

Ideas diagnosing broken B&O beogram 2400 turntable
I got a second hand beogram 2400 turntable. Not sure if it ever worked. , I don't know prior history.

It won't power. I cracked it open and so far I'm lost. Any ideas where to start? The motor wires seem strange only a couple copper wires going to some spots. There was also this plastic gear that seemed to break off and was just floating around. I doubt the gear is reason the turntable won't start. But I will have to replace. I'm not even sure what the gear did or where it goes.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. A couple other items. I don't have a cartridge yet. Also, I tried putting a record down to trigger the detection disc and that didn't seem to do anything when clicking the switch. Also, I tried putting my hand on the stylus to create some weight when they record was there. Still nothing.
