On my Epson Stylus Photo 1400 printer I have tried two USB cables from the computer to working printers but with this printer we have no connection. The computer will not access the printer. The software is installed but no connection to the printer. Can someone help. Please.

Check in device manager in windows once it’s plugged in to see if it appears in there (it may appear in there as an unknown device if there is an issue with the drivers) or it may have an explanation mark against it to indicate another problem
