I have this fantastic system which will no longer power up. If I push the power button top right... it illuminates briefly the unit shows INITIALYZING.... then shuts down with a "click" in 1-2 seconds as if it has a power overload .. all back connections check ok no shorts
the unit worked fine for years but suddenly this happens.. looks like some protection circuit is shutting it down. I looked at diagram !!! but not enough details or circuit description on how it works . Paid $400 at COSTCO years ago and shop repairs
are prohibitive if I can find the problem . thanks for any clues . If it goes in the junk pile I'll have to whip out my pristine SX737

Hi!
First, you should determine which unit is faulty.
The rear ribbon cable should be pulled out of the upper unit and the control unit itself should be turned on.
If the same error is experienced, then this control unit will be faulty.
Its repair requires an experienced specialist, because it is a very complicated device.

Thanks for comment ... I will try again but I recall pulling the ribbon cable and still the control unit failed as you indicated.
I have repaired radios and misc. electronics before but this animal seems designed by NASA ! no wonder it was selling for $1K+ years ago
