Kenwood KA-893 amplifier not turning on

Hi everyone I recently got the Kenwood ka 893 amplifier. When you plug it in and push the power button to turn it on, it makes a clicking sound and the display will flash on and off. The unit will not stay powered on after pushing the power button. As it makes the clicking sound and the display flashes on and off. The red standby led stays on solid and does not change. Any ideas or help would be great .thank you!
