Kenwood KDC-BT848U volume knob not turning up/down *pushing in left/right and up/down works fine*

GOOD morning/afternoon/evening/night.*lmao* I hope everyone and family are well. Anyways As stated in the title this knob stoped working about 9 or 10 years ago when it was put on a extended vacation.*RETIREMENT* well I took it out of retirement to save it from rotting. Well to the previous owners surprise the volume would go up/down..... untill a week ago  and not wanting to buy a used remote for the volume with the possibly of it not working and wasting my money. That being said I seen that sometimes other radio heads have this issue and are repaired by cleaning contacts with wire harness cleaner. Is that possible with the stated radio I have? Any manual that can be provided would be great *Service manual, user manual, ect, ect.
