My Tascam 488 will not play cassettes

Hi, We have a Tascam 488 that we have not used in years, been sitting in the box, and the fast forward and rewind work but once we hit play the button lights up for a split second and then it stops.  Anyone have ideas of how we can fix this?  Thanks!
