Nakamichi 581 not playing

replaced the drive belt, fixed the eject door and glued the record switch. but now the play switch does nothing, fast forward and reverse work as long as the switch is pushed in. When turned on the lights come on and the drive motor is turning but put in a tape and press play and nothing. Has anyone else had this problem? Thank you, any help would be appreciated.

Hi!
Unfortunately, there are many possible reasons.
The first, the switch ( SW503 ), which detects the open state of the cassette door, prohibits playback.
It could also be a button error, that playback switch could have been pressed many times.
Or the logic PCB. made a mistake.
Here, the control was still solved with traditional logic gates, so with enough patience you can find which one is wrong.
You can find the service manual here:

thanks for the reply, I will check the physical switches, and see if I can find the problem. If it is into the electronic parts that is beyond my tools and knowledge, but you have given me some things to check thanks again for the quick reply and manual.
