pioneer XR-J2500J HI FI, From stand by mode, when power button is pressed, some buttons lights up and motor turning sound briefly ,then switches off again. The tape deck drive rubber belts are broken. Could that cause the unit relay to come on and goes off shortly afterwards, then goes back to standby mode? Could there an overload or short fault also? Any ideas where to look. I did download a service manual for it. doesn't have any troubleshooter info on it?

If the belt is broken, there isn't rotation detection pulse. (J13 pin 2.) The processor stops the capstan motor controller.
