Good morning, I'm from Brazil and I have difficulties in finding a competent technical assistance. I have a Pionner VSX 831 receiver and I have a problem with the Remote Control that only works very close to the device (30 cm). More than that, the device does not respond to commands. I've already checked the RC batteries and they're good. and I've already used other controls that are fine. I've done all the backup procedures and it didn't resolve. I think the problem is with the IR reception on the VSX.
Can you help me?

open remote control, take out motherboard, look welds using a white lamp; if you're lucky you'll find bad welds in IR diode transmitter or quartz or batteries contact: resolder them .

Do you have a smartphone with camera?
If yes, do these steps.
1. Switch on smartphone camera.
2. Point the camera to remote infra red window/diode.
3.Press any bottom of remote control
but do not take any photo.
4. Observe smartphone to see if white
flashing diode lights up.
5.Test any bottons you want.

I think the IR receiver sensitivy is too low. (Or output line has confusion signal and blocking incoming signal). First time change a new one. If this after not working well check the IR receiver power supply. (3-5V) Use oscilloskope! Or filter capacitor is bad.
