Good evening, problems on Solomon SL20? the "Power" light comes on, as well as Heater, but nothing else? the rotation of the pot. temperature, only causes Heater to switch off or tremble, does the iron heat up?

Hi!

Te schematic is this https://elektrotanya.com/solomon_sl-20_sch.pdf/download.html, except the display.

Do you measured the soldering iron? The heating coil should be...

Thanks for the link, I already looked before asking the question? but I don't understand what is happening? what should I check?

Hello Mickey,
Check the resistance of the heater (cca 15 Ohm),and measure voltage at thermo (cca 1mV / Celsius.) Probably the thermo is broken. If you short the thermo, does the heating start?
Good luck to repair!

Hello, and thank you for your answers, the iron heats up, but the rotation of the pot. injected (to clean) WD 40 into the pot. and was not special contact ??on the other hand have noticed, that before this intervention?
the pot.a bottom are the last red LEDs on the right did not light up? can be normal? I will follow the advice and do the measurements on the iron. Have a nice day

after several tests this morning, I see? what if I remove the Din plug? sttion powered, the LED bar works? I keep looking, any ideas are welcome.
Would it bother me not to be able to put it back into service? gift from a DCD friend...

Hello,
Measure voltage at pin 13 of the opamp DA1.4 This is the control voltage from the temperature controller potmeter.Normally its  between 0.1-0.5 V,depends on the preset temperature. After measure voltage at output pin 08 of the opamp DA1.3. Its the amplified voltage from the thermo.Without heating its cca 0-0.1 V.If the heating starts, the voltage goes up to 0.3-0.4 V until the temperature reaches the desired value, the output pin 14 goes low,the heating stops. Probably you should change the heating element.

Good morning, Thanks for the reply, Oui if I understood correctly? I have to find a tension between the 2 wires of the Thermo couple? station in operation? sorry, but not used to this kind of components, actually I am considering replacing the iron, but after having checked everything. I did another test yesterday, there is still only the "Heater" light which is controlled by the pot.Central? when the last 4 "red" view that no registration from the temperature setting, towards this? wonder if are functional? Good weekend

Hello
I' ve measured the voltage at the thermo.
400 °C 27 mV,300 °C 20,6 mV,200 °C 12 mV,150 °C 9,2mV.At room temperature almost zero. (cca 6,5-7 mV/ 100 °C)
Good luck to repair.
Bonne chance

triste OK, thank you very much for this information, are these measurements in AC, or DC? CCA (alternative?) for 6.5/7 mv at 100° thank you in advance. have a nice weekend

Of course DC.Its a thermocouple.

Hello, I come back to the site? because still not solved my Solomon SL 20 station problem the iron heats up, but impossible, even by manipulating the potntiometer? to turn on the led bar? except by unplugging the iron from its socket? if anyone has a solution? I follow taker ,in advance thank you.

If I understand correctly, it heats up, but it is not possible to regulate the temperature, the LED stays on ful  all the time. Thermal element error, or the wire is broken.

Thank you for the answer, yes that's it, the iron heats up, but no LED on the bar lights up? except that of voltage presence, I also noticed that following the change of the breakdown? the new one had play, diameter slightly different from the old one? can this influence the operation of the thermocouple?
