I have a Sony CRF-V21, to which, spots have appeared on the LCD display.
The component (LCD) is marked: SHARP LM48050A, the sony part number is: 1-808-096-11.
I could not find anything on the network for replacement.
I ask for help to solve the problem with an alternative replacement.
Thank you for your answer!

Hi there!
I ran into an issue with this LCD too, but found the cause of the LCD being "just grey". I got a CRF-V21 for repair that had multiple electrolytic caps that leaked and were eating away solder-mask, traces and other parts of the board like resistors and ceramic caps. Unfortunately someone in the past of this unit made some very unprofessional repair, missing several capacitors and dead traces. Also he tried to find the fault of the unreadable LCD by disassembling the LCD itself. In the end the glass has several shattered corners and it feels like a wonder that currently only a singe vertical line is missing.
Back to the root-cause of the LCD being "blank" is, that the -14V on Pin 8 of the ribbon connector is only -10-ish Volts in my unit. Due to large damage from the capacitors, missing parts from the previous repair attempts, I had to rebuild the whole -14V converter and thought that -15V is the highest contrast possible, but -10V may be enough...
No it is not! I remove the CPU controlled switch transistor and placed a lab PSU instead as -15V and the LCD works fine. I tested a few settings and the LCD comes up at -14.2V and gets a dark background at -15.1V.
So check your -14V converter and make sure it really has -15V with highest contrast setting.
Watchout for the timer unit to be connected correctly as if the front LCD contrast potentiometer is not connected the -14V transformer circuit does not work and only gives about -3V.
