Sony XB8AV display very dim

Hello. Sir,
I have a sony XB8AV system. has been lying around for years, now I have time and space to use it. 
Switched it on all seems to work but the Display came up briefly now its totally dom can not see it at all.
I was wondering if there are any adjustments for it or its faulty. Any help much appreciated.Is there a complete
service manual on your website I got the Circuit diagrams from your website. 
I have some experince in repairing electronic devices.
