Sony CDX-A2001 does not see a disc

I am looking for a competent shop that can work on an older Sony 10 disc changer. I believe that all it really needs is to have the laser cleaned? It worked fine in the fall when the car was stored and in the spring I get an error message stating it does not see a disc.

I have procured a repair manual, but am a bit hesitant to disassemble on my own. I am also not sure of what to clean the laser with as there are conflicting recommendations on the net about how and what to use.

If someone could point me to a competent person it would be greatly appreciated.

Not clean, adjust laser power! Need 2-5 years (with or without use).
Measure potmeter and change.
Measured 640, change ~540, measured 200, change ~120ohm.
If <50ohm, need to change laser head.

Thank you for your reply. Sorry, I am new to this. Are you saying that the laser power needs to be adjusted every 2-5 years? Even if it has not been in use or connected to any power source? Again, sorry as this is outside of my wheelhouse and all completely new to me.

More electrical parts (condenser, etc.) growing old with or without use.

Mostly DVD player lasers life short, CD variable, depends on the manufacturer.

Big (standard) DVD-ROM/CD-ROM head long life, little laptop version poor quality; in new condition read error more than standard heads... and very old CD-ROM working more than 20 years without problem, no read error.

Old: precise, persistent
New: cheap serial

Your CD-Charger creation time ~1989-1991. Old, good quality laser, but need head change after 30-35 years if trimmer not help (test trimmer stting before change). The next new head not working next 30 year, only 10-15 year max.
